Happy Groundhog Day!

 It's very cold but sunny today.

Last week I was talking to someone about pursuing interests outside of work and how important it is to cultivate them.  Reading more is part of it for me. In January I read 17 books Two nights ago I went to a women's group discussing sexual harassment. Last night I went to an interesting lecture on photojournalism and the effect of storytelling on policy. Both discussions were good and left me with things to think about. This evening I'm planning on visiting a couple of art galleries.

I was chatting recently with a co-worker whose husband had retired, and now he sat around the house a lot, and no longer had any interesting work stories to tell, and they'd begun watching a lot more TV. That just seemed really sad, people who don't know what to do with themselves when they no longer have work to define them. It's still several years away, but I hope to spend more time on my hobbies and with family and friends.
