Speaking of books

This is actually two weeks worth, so not really impressive.
A Gladiator Only Dies Once by Steven Saylor. I am so glad to have these stories collected. They are all new to me. The research is thorough but does not take precedence over the fascinating plots. I seldom guess the ending. The short stories are as excellent as the novels.
The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking. This was a very readable explanation of a very complex topic. It started with a nice review of the basics and then go tinto string theory and M theory. I think it gave a good explanation of the current state of physics and philosophy.
Feed, Deadline, and Blackout by Mira Grant. A trilogy about Zombies! A medicinal combination created zombies. Bloggers have become the source of reliable news. I speeded through the last just to finish. The constant blood tests got repetitious and boring. The author is actually Seanan McGuire, a winner of the Campbell Award. I haven't read any of those books and these aren't a good ad for them.
Good Blood by Aaron Elkins. Not one of the stronger entries in the series. Babies exchanged at birth, mysterious inheritance. I liked the setting in Italy.
Dead Men's Hearts by Aaron Elkins. This one has a nice setting in modern Egypt. The series is uncomplicated and easy to read on the bus.
I'm liking my Kindle a lot. I read the Hawking and Saylor books on it and I think I'm a convert. I checked the books out of the library via Overdrive, which was very simple. It's a niceoption to have.
