Elevators must be magical places for dogs

Think about it. She goes in a little room. Tt shakes and gives her a funny feeling in her tummy. It smells different every time from all the other dogs and people that use it but she seldom sees them. Then the doors open and she is in an entirely different place. Sometimes the doors open on new lands that she is not allowed to get out and explore.

You know, years ago when we still went to cons, we took a dog (most hotels now, alas, don't seem to allow dogs) and I used to do a dog's-eye-view of the con for our club newsletter - and that was always one of the points I made - the little room we went into, the door closed and when it opened again we were somewhere else...

It's true really! And now I'm thinking of all the ways life is different at dog-level.

Thanks - quiet birthday, not really celebrated until the 5th because of RL issues - my pal's, not mine. But I'd cake and a birthday meal on the 5th. (I hated my birthday whe I was a kid, learned how to live with it when I was in my late teens, but I've reached an age now where it really isn't important any more. Just the start of another trip around the sun.)

I think of airplanes in exactly this way.

I think of airplanes as being in a really boring play I can't leave. I sit in rows, can't really get up, I'm not much inerested in what's going on. But the end result is fantatsi! I am someplace new :)

I love flying, but very seldom go anywhere where flying is the indicated way to go, alas.

I am normally a good flyer but it's not like it used to be. I still like the window seat and seeing what we're flying over.
