vamysteryfanPleased as heck that Mars Curiosity landed safely and is already sending back photos. Well done, NASA! They even timed it so that a Mars orbiter caught a photo of the rover landing. http://bit.ly/OHqRw4
Yesterday morning was a clean all the things morning including laundry. I put the Olympics on for company, as I've been doing fairly often this past week. I liked watching the women's marathon. It was fun seeing them go past so many familiar landmarks. Then the showjumping event caught my eye. It looked a little bit like a mini-golf course with all the decorations alongside the jumps. That red postbox jump must have been very hard. The top bar got knocked down a lot. Still it was fun to watch. I also saw most of the Murray/Federer match. I definitely think the crowd got Andy pumped. Good on him for winning the gold!

I spent the afternoon at the National Gallery of Art. They had a photography exhibit called I Spy. The photographers limited themselves to taking photos out of bus windows or from just one spot. The first ones didn't let the subjects know they were being photographed but the later ones did. The photos were great, but it was also a commentary on how accustomed we've become to being photographed in public.
They also had a Joan Miro exhibit that I need to get back to before it closes next week. He did a lot of his painting during the Spanish Civil War and World War 2. The paintings can be dense and full of symbols. His works got bigger and less dense as he got older but still full of symbols. I'm so lucky that all this stuff is just a bus ride away.
