Work is sponsoring one of those 10,000 steps for better health programs, where the goal is to get yourself up to 10,000 steps a day. They handed out free pedometers to participants.
They warn you that most people are a little dismayed at how little they walk - 2000 - 2500 steps is a common starting point. On my first day, I did 5600 steps and I didn't even have it for a whole day. That's not bad for a desk-bound city girl. I can see where to add more steps during the day, so I'm not so sedentary.
