Beginning of March, I posted about Stephen Colbert's portrait being hung outside a restroom in the National Gallery of Art. Once the NGA took it down, he apparently went to the "Treasures of American History" curator and muscled him for a while. The painting is now hanging there until next Sunday !?!
"Treasures of American History" is an exhibit at the Air & Space Museum showcasing 150 artifacts while the American History Museum is being renovated. The first few exhibits are Abraham Lincoln's hat, Jackie Kennedy's dress from the 1960 Inauguration, Edison's lightbulb, Custer's and George Washington's uniforms, etc, etc.
Just to put it in context:

Last item in the exhibit is Colbert's portrait, very tongue-in-cheek exhibit, with museumgoers invited to vote on whether it stays in the collection.
