The Pentagon Memorial to 9/11 was dedicated today. It's quite simple but very touching. Benches for each of the people killed on the ground and on the plane. It will be accessible 24/7.

My sister works across the highway from the Pentagon. She saw the fireball and ran down nine flights to the lobby. The only person who beat her down the stairs was her supervisor. Seven years ago today I was in DC working. The city became deathly silent. No horns, no bustle.

I still remember how weird it was not having any planes flying in and out of National for so many months.

I found this while surfing. It's as on point today as it was then

FDR was right. Fear itself is the enemy. It makes you do stupid things. It makes you close your eyes because you think it'll make the monsters in the closet disappear, too. Wallowing in fear does nothing. Feeding that fear is a true crime. Lying about it to entertain the masses or make a political point, however...well...that's just a sin.
