Procrastination mode once more. I haven't finished downloading all my photos yet. When I switched on the computer to do job apps, I got distracted by the shiny pretty new stories on my flist.

So what am I doing? thinking about Top Chef. The Quickfire challenge was stupid. Some of those drinks sounded more like salad dressings. Sherry vinaigrette? raspberry mint? Horrible things to do to perfectly good gin! And Bombay Sapphire is excellent gin. All it really needs is to be nice and cold and a couple of olives or maybe a lemon slice.

The main challenge was to ring changes (three) on one main ingredient. I'd have chosen chocolate for the dessert course and sucked up to the judges by using that chocolate gin thing ::flinches:: Scallops appear to be the basic black dress of Season Three. The beef trio should have won. Can't even remember what the fourth one was. And Camille wasn't nearly as bad as Sara from Jamaica.

Anyone besides me watching Eureka this season? The premiere was really decent. And Colin was adorably befuddled, as always.

Okay back to work.

[livejournal.com profile] misanthrope7842 posted a couple of recipes that I decided to try tonight. One was for black bean patties - sort of like veggie burgers. She was right - the wet-dry ratio was off a bit. I'd be interested in working on it a bit more. I made it with rolled oats instead of bread crumbs. That added a bit more texture.

The corn cake on the other hand was a complete success. I made it in a little loaf pan, so I can slice it up. I was a tad dubious about the rosemary, but it made the dish. It was a nice contrast to the sweetness of the creamed corn. Totally adding it to the rotation!
