Sliding, soup and Studio 60
Jan. 22nd, 2007 12:16 pmYesterday we had snow for basically the first time all winter. The State of Virginia decided not to plow or salt the roads, as the accumulation was projected to be less than 2 inches and the temperature today was projected to be in the 40s, melting all the stuff and saving money. So walking home last night was an adventure. The snow turned to freezing rain, which left a lovely slippery crust. It stayed in the 20s all night and has only just gone about freezing. I looked like a little old lady walking to the bus stop this morning but I didn't want any bruises. My side street was a hazard.
But yesterday was nice. I made a big pot of Manhattan-style corn chowder and added some jalapenos to rev it up. Yummy. And I got sucked into a Bravo marathon of Studio 60 on Sunset Strip. Great way to waste a Sunday. I saw the first couple of episodes last fall and then sort of drifted away. I kept thinking of Paul DiMeo and Danny Bilson for some reason. But watching the marathon got me into the characters, so I think I'll have to watch the new episode that's on tonight.
