Movies and scones

vamysteryfanI saw Harry Potter and the OotP this afternoon.
I liked it very much . They picked the right sections of the book to concentrate on. They slimmed it down very well. Some parts of the book that I thought were over the top were redeemed by the actors' performances. Some parts are extremely angsty but Daniel Radcliffe makes them work. The special effects were great but did not have to carry the movie. The actress they picked for Luna Lovegood really stole the scenes she was in. She carried it off very well. Fred and George W. were outstanding. All in all, much fun.
Last week at the Folklife Festival, I watched a demonstration by an English woman from Kent on how to make scones. Much as I love cookbooks, sometimes watching a demonstration can really be useful. I got two incredibly helpful hints from watching her. So tonight I made scones. They turned out very nicely. Apricot jam on the scones and a nice cup of tea set me up well and got me in the mood for Doctor Who this evening.
