Summer isn't really here yet either
Jun. 11th, 2018 12:20 pm After a very nice weekend, it's back down in the 60s. Not that I'm complaining - we've had some typically DC muggy days so it feels refreshing.
On Saturday, Niece 11.1 graduated from high school. The sisters from AZ and MA came in for it, so we had a lovely family gathering. Sister 6 hosted a breakfast tailgate party beforehand - we got some very envious looks from other family. The graduation was lovely. Niece was in chorus and they had the grads sing in their gowns with them.
Afterwards Sister 11 hosted a great afternoon at her house. Lots of food, continuous nibbling, and lots of catching up. It was a lot of fun and it was so great the out-of-towners could come. Things kind of wound up at 8, because there was an all-night party for the grads and Sister had agreed to help decorate.
And for something completely different. On Sunday, for the third year in a row, I worked at the DC Jamaican Jerk Festival. I always end up sore as can be - I'm on my feet for the better part of 9 hours - and I think this might be the last year I can do it. Lots of good music, lots of good food, and mostly people are mellow. The weather was a bit threatening at times, but it never rained and the sun came out at the end.
The Washington Capitals victory parade is scheduled for tomorrow. They won hockey's Stanley Cup. DC hasn't had a sports champ in 20 years so it's pretty special.
