RIP Barbara Mertz

Also known as Barbara Michaels and Elizabeth Peters. One of my favorite writers under any name. She inspired an interest in Egyptology, scared the life out of me with "Ammie Come Home", and had some of the best heroines I've ever read about. Her heros were seldom the most handsome man in the room but were usually the most interesting. Memorable characters, memorable plots, and she could be really funny.
