even if I didn't get to Con.txt today.

[personal profile] simonesa, Barb, and Kris arrived Wednesday. We had Thai food for dinner near Dupont Circle.

Thursday was the big sightseeing day. We had good weather for it - sunny and breezy. We met up at the Navy Memorial.

Yay, fangirls! )

We had a short wander through Chinatown and then headed to the National Archives. Interesting coincidence - today is the anniversary of the Magna Carta's signing and we saw it yesterday. It really is amazing to see the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It bears repeating that the Constitution starts out "We the People" not We the People under God or any monarchy or religious figure. We had THE most scrumptious Mexican food at Rosa Mexicana for lunch. That is my new favorite place. Unbelievably good guacamole and corn.

Then we made a big loop. From Foggy Bottom we walked down to the Einstein statue, then the Lincoln Memorial, then the Korean Memorial, then Martin Luther King Jr. You know, it's great to have visitors. It encourages me to go to the places I wouldn't otherwise visit.

I fully intended to head up to Silver Spring after cleaning myself up a bit but I was falling down tired after a shower.

This morning I was getting ready to head up to SS and got a call to help with a conference. I spent the day at the registration desk, eavesdropping on presentations, and taking photos of participants and speakers. The hired photographer flaked out and they knew I'm an avid amateur. I was flattered to be asked, really.

After I finish processing the photos for work, I've got to put together a nice photo essay on our day yesterday. Sitting in Einstein's lap was a highlight, so were the Chinese tiles, and going past the FBI building.
