Okay that was weird
May. 22nd, 2008 09:40 pmAs I may have said, the neighborhood where I'm living can be a bit iffy. It's definitely in transition. The building has video surveillance so I've never felt bad about it. There is a little city park right next door and I never walk through it, just on general principles.
A woman was walking down the street talking on her cell phone and had her handbag snatched just outside the building. They came out of the park. The police were so hopeful we'd caught it on our cameras but alas it was just outside camera range.
So my lesson of the day is one I practice anyway - pay attention to your surroundings. When I'm walking around, I'm not listening to my iPod and I'm seldom on the phone. I watch the people and the neighborhood.
