Cherry blossom time in DC
Apr. 13th, 2007 04:47 pmThe cherry blossoms bloomed early this year. Rather than inflict yet more Tidal Basin pictures on you, I will inflict National Gallery pictures. When these photos were taken, it was nearly 80 degrees F.

( East Building, National Gallery of Art, again )
( A nice lady took my picture ) My hair was looking particularly poufy that day.
Three days later we had a little snowfall and a hard freeze. All the flowers in the yard got little caps of snow. It got around twenty the night after I took these pictures:
( poor hyacinth )
( poor daffodils )
( poor apple blossoms )
Actually that last is no joke. A large portion of Virginia's apple orchards lost the year's crop because the blossoms froze.
