Fire on the Farm!
Jan. 8th, 2007 09:24 amSome of you enjoyed/tolerated my weekly posts about the farm share I had over the summer. I kind of bonded with the place, felt a bit proprietary and all. Leigh sent out a newsletter. They had a big fire on the farm. They had just gotten a propane delivery. Somehow sparks set off a fire. He lost an entire green house and part of the farm house was damaged.
This is a big deal for a farm, especially a small, family-run affair. I think he's going to rebuild and keep going. But the guy is 60 after all. I kind of wonder. If he has the farms shares again this year, I'll have to sign up.
Pictures I took of the farm last May are available here http://vamysteryfan.livejournal.com/138690.html#cutid1 He has the whole story posted on his blog http://bullrunfarm.blogspot.com if you want to read about it. The description of the flames from the propane tanks shooting 70 feet into the air is pretty vivid.
