Done my way (g)

Richard Burgi guest-starred in the Firefly episode The Message. He played a scruffy bad-ass cop. The DVD set offered an actors' commentary on the ep, done by Alan Tudyk (Wash) and Jewel Staite (Kaylee). Most of the commentary focused on it being Firefly's last show, but they did have a few comments about Richard. Alan is a bit of a kidder. )

I will likely be going to see Serenity this weekend. I liked watching the Inside Serenity special last night.

I haven't posted much on what I've been reading lately. I veered away from mysteries for a while and have been reading speculative fiction/AUs. A friend recommended Tamora Pierce. She writes wonderful fantasy stories for young teens. I think they are appropriate for sixth graders. They are also quite riveting for adults. Very strong female characters. I just finished reading S.M. Stirling's Dies the Fire. It's speculative fiction that explores what would happen if we suddenly lost all electronic and mechanical devices. I read [livejournal.com profile] starwatcher307's post about running water and electricity and then spotted this book. It fits right into that theme. Good story, lots of SCA and Celtic influences, fairly realistic battle sequences. A bit too much luck for the heroes but that happens. It's worth a read.
