I actually had a really good one. The weather stayed nice for most of it. Friday, I talked to Mary. SHe said Michael is stable and doing as well as can be expected. Good news. Saturday was running around on errands day. Shopping, groceries, etc. I made a scrumptious vegetarian curry for myself (I think I got the recipe from someone on LJ - sweet potatoes, chickpeas, brown rice), matched it to a nice Chardonnay, and watched movies.

Sunday was my nephew's third birthday. (That's him in the icon) We had one of those daylong family parties my sister specializes in. One present opened every half hour, lots of food and drink. Nobody counts calories or carbs. The sisters all get a chance to catch up on each other's news and the guys do manly things. This time around, they were using a power lathe to make wooden bowls from a tree they had chopped down. They seemed just a touch too fond of the chainsaw.

They put up a moonbounce in the back yard and we all wore ourselves out on it. What with the piggyback rides for the kids and the moonbounce, I was a bit sore at the end of the day. For a 3 yr old, Tyler is a very good present recipient. He says things like Wow and Cool and likes to play with the gift for a while before he opens the next one. The toys of choice this year were Power Rangers and Spiderman.

Monday was yard day. Really, it's a never-ending battle against the weeds and the dandelions. I picked up a couple of new mysteries. Steven Saylor writes a series set in and around Ancient Rome. His new one is called The Judgment of Caesar. I could hardly put it down. He does extensive research and his characters are terrific. I ended up reading on the escalator into work this morning.
