Self-indulgence is a good thing.
Apr. 18th, 2005 09:17 amI actually had a fabulous weekend. The weather was glorious, for starters, though the pollen got to be a bit much after a while. My nephew Josh was down for a visit from Boston. I took him out to lunch and he spent 2 glorious hours telling me things. He's turning into a really interesting adult. Every so often, I have a little flash of the little scrap I held when he was a month old. Now he's six-2 and his shoulders are twice as broad as mine. Usually, it's all big family gatherings when the Massachusetts contingent comes down. But I had him all to myself (selfishly rubs hands together).
On Sunday, a friend talked me into attending the Jane Austen Society brunch. The food was fabulous, and they had a professor lecturing about The Uncharitable Jane Austen. The woman could snark, both in her books and her letters.
Other times, I read my books and watched some episodes of NCIS and SG-1 that I taped. ANd I ignored all the urgent tasks waiting for me. Go me.
