It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

It's been a little more seasonal, which is to say a little chillier. But we've had some nice sunshine.

The Japanese cherry blossoms are pretty much done. But the apple trees are starting to bloom and the American double blossom cherry trees are looking pretty spectacular.

The Smithsonian Kite Festival is this Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. I'm watching the weather predictions for that. It's a really fun event on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

Remember a few weeks ago I posted a photo of where I used to work and said it's been turned into an art and meeting space. Tonight I'm helping at an event there. I'm hoping to have more of a look around.

Now I'm off for a haircut.

Those really are beautiful. My parents' old home had two little cherry blossom trees out the front, and it was a highlight when they flowered each year

The cherry tree in my garden is only just coming into flower... but here, for March, that's unprecedented. I wouldn't normally expect it to flower for at least another week, possibly even two.
