About the first science fiction novel I ever read was Andre Norton's The Last Planet aka Star Rangers. Among her other gifts, she educated me about different cultures on earth as well as out in space. The Witch World books were riveting, but I also loved her books about AmerInds (as she called them). I didn't care as much for her collaborations in later years - I prefer my Nortons straight up. There are a few writers and teachers I'll always remember. She was one of them.
