Transiting between DC and BWI Airport
Jul. 19th, 2010 09:49 pmIf perchance someone happened to land at Baltimore Washington Airport and needed to get to DC or vice versa, the thing to do is to take MARC's Penn line. There's a stop at BWI
You will board at the Marshall State Airport stop, which will cost $8. Expect the trip to take an hour; the ride is usually less (an average trip from DC's Union Station to the end of the line at Penn Station is exactly sixty minutes; BWI is before the end of the line) but you may encounter delays. Allow for more time than the trip will take so you don't miss your flight. On weekdays DC metrorail closes at midnight. If you can't make the rail closing, Sheraton's airport hotel offers a night's lodging for around $50, way cheaper than a cab and a better way to get over jetlag.
There's also a metrobus but that's not as comfortable. It costs $7.
If perchance you need American dollars, DC's Union Station has an American Express office with a good exchange rate. Union Station also has a bunch of shops, snack places, and restaurants. There are six hotels within 5 blocks.
And it's very easy for me to get to Union Station. I'm just saying. heheheh
